Hey Sunny Coast Rude Boys Fam! Hope you're all well & life FEEEEEELS GOOOOD NOW! :) Lots & lots happening at RudeBoy HQ! We have a couple of QLD gigs left to round off a very successful & eventful 2024, and finally a trip to Melbourne for SKA NATION festival, where we play our set on the Sunday. We'll be in good company with The Black Seeds from NZ & local Melbourne Ska legends Loonee Tunes also on the bill. The Saturday will have HEY SMITH (Japan) & VOODOO GLOW SKULLS (USA) headlining. Should be a fantastic weekend of shennanigans for our motley crew of Sunny Coast Rude Boys! In other news, we seem to be smashing it on Spotify with our new original music, which is heart warming, considering all the hard work (& money $!) that goes into writing, arranging, rehearsing, recording, mixing & mastering! Turns out we have 9000+ monthly listeners now (top demographics are 40yrs+ in Australia, UK & Germany!) Also, our latest single RUDEBOY TAKEOVER has just been streamed 12000+ times in it's few weeks of release, and our last single FEELS GOOD is approaching a whopping 110,000 streams?!!!
Mick (our singer/band leader) has been working away in the studio, collaborating with the über talented ASHER CHAPMAN (Bearfoot / Asher Beau) in writing 'RudeBoy Takeover,' & The 'yet to be released single 'DANCEHALL'. There are plenty more Ska/reggae infused ideas that are bubbling away at SCRBoys HQ too! Also, a big shout out & THANK YOU! to all the radio stations that have been playing our tunes, especially 4zzz SKA TREK, Beefy's Ska Nation Podcast & ABC radio for all the airplay & support! Please do have a click on or Spotify & have a listen, let us know if you're enjoying our new music! Our plan for the band in 2023 was to transition from essentially a 2Tone covers band into a (mainly) original music band, that has a few old school 2Tone Ska classics to 'pull out of the bag' for live gigs when needed. Thankfully we seem to be keeping our audience entertained with our new songs, that are mixed in with the familiar covers of The Specials, Madness, Bad Manners etc. We have big plans for 2025, recording, tours, multi band shows, a seperate 'concept' EP, festivals & lots of our signature backstage espresso martinis! We are SO grateful for your support of our band, we know that it is a load of effort & expense to go out to live gigs, especially when there is so much to choose from! But here's the thing, We love playing our music, we love that you love a great night out,
we Loves ya.... you loves us..... See where this is going right??
It's all about the love. Seeya up the front! Big Love, Mick Sunny Coast Rude Boys
